Standing with Spocko

BRAVO for the EFF for stepping up in the ongoing copyright skirmish between Spocko and the Disney-owned radio station KSFO. Spocko has, as a public service, been posting brief clips of some of the distasteful rhetoric spewing out of KSFO, and critiquing the hosts who spew. Disney/ABC has already used the Digital Millennium Copyright Act's "takedown" provision to get Spocko's blog purged from a very, very cowardly hosting service. Spocko is back with a new host, and the EFF, rightly pointing out that Spocko's efforts are 1) protected by the 1st Amendment; and 2) obviously fair use, is backing Spocko with a promised legal push-back.

This is the EFF at its best. And it reminded me that it was high time for me to do something I've been meaning to do for a long time, namely join the EFF. It didn't hurt, and I apparently get an appropriately "geek chic" t-shirt out of the deal.
